An 18-year-old Rapid City man was arrested early May 25 after officers investigating a nearby gunshots report recovered three firearms from his person, police said.
Officers saw the man, later identified as Jaycias Flyinghorse, running through a parking lot in the 100 block of East Knollwood Drive wearing a ski mask and dark clothing. Police said he appeared to reach toward his waistband.
As officers began to exit their patrol vehicle, they heard a gunshot from the area where Flyinghorse was located. Despite repeated commands to show his hands, he continued to resist and reach toward his waistband, police said.
Officers ultimately detained Flyinghorse in handcuffs and recovered three firearms. One of the guns was reported stolen. Police also noted the smell of alcohol on him.
Flyinghorse was arrested on charges including obstruction, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, underage consumption of alcohol and possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
