The South Dakota Air National Guard took part in pre-race ceremonies at the 110th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, performing a flyover above the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Pilots from the 175th Fighter Squadron flew F-16 fighter jets over the track as part of the nationally televised event, representing South Dakota on a national stage.
The Indianapolis 500, known as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” drew hundreds of thousands of fans and continued its tradition of honoring military service members during race-day ceremonies.
The flyover marked the squadron’s return to the event and is considered one of the signature moments before the race begins.
