Rapid City will open most of its outdoor pools for the summer season Saturday, marking the start of warm-weather recreation as school lets out.
City-operated pools at Horace Mann, Parkview and Jimmy Hilton Sioux Park will be open daily from noon to 6 p.m., except on July 4 when all city pools will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 50-meter outdoor pool at Roosevelt Park Swim Center opened last week and has extended hours throughout the week.
Daily admission is $8 for adults and youth and $7 for seniors 62 and older, with punch passes available.
Parks officials have scheduled a variety of summer events, including discounted “Quick Dip” evening swims, family admission specials, themed parties, and the return of cardboard boat races on June 20 at Roosevelt Park. Other activities include family nights, a glow swim event and a teen pool party in late July.
City pools recorded more than 88,000 admissions last summer, up from about 81,000 in 2024 and 73,000 in 2023.
Most pools will close in late August, while Jimmy Hilton Sioux Park and Roosevelt Park will remain open into September.
