A western South Dakota Republican lawmaker is facing a felony charge for allegedly damaging a public roadway.
Fourth Judicial Circuit Judge Chad Callahan signed an arrest warrant Tuesday for Travis Ismay, a 49‑year‑old Butte County resident. A grand jury indictment accuses Ismay of violating state law by intentionally damaging a highway or bridge.
The charge is a Class 6 felony, carrying a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Ismay recently won the Republican primary for the District 28B House seat and is currently unopposed heading into the November general election.
The case remains under investigation.
