Police are investigating three separate shooting incidents that occurred late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, leaving one man hospitalized and another person with minor injuries.
Officers were first dispatched around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Patton Street after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. While responding, police learned that an injured individual had left the scene in a vehicle. Officers quickly located the vehicle and found a male suffering from gunshot wounds inside. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
At the scene on Patton Street, investigators recovered several shell casings in the roadway. Authorities say they are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
While still investigating that incident, officers reported hearing additional gunfire coming from the area near North 7th Street. Police responded and located spent shell casings at the scene. However, no property damage was found, and no injuries related to that incident have been reported. The case has been referred to the department’s Criminal Investigation Division for further follow-up.
A third shooting incident was reported later in the night. At approximately 12:35 a.m. Thursday morning, police were called to the unit block of Saint Patrick Street for reports of gunfire. Responding officers discovered several shell casings in a nearby alleyway and identified damage to a residence in the area. Witnesses told police that one individual inside the home sustained a superficial injury during the incident.
Police say that, at this time, there is no evidence suggesting the three shootings are connected. All incidents remain under active investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about any of the shootings or the individuals responsible to contact Police Investigations at 605-394-4134.
