Rapid City administrative offices will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth Freedom Day, with several city services adjusting schedules for the holiday.
The Rapid City Landfill will be closed, and trash collection will shift one day earlier for Tuesday through Friday routes, while Monday pickup remains unchanged. Recycling will continue as scheduled but may also occur one day earlier during the week.
Public transit services, including RapidRide and Dial‑A‑Ride, will not operate on June 19. The Rapid City Public Library and most city administrative offices will also be closed, though police and fire services will continue normal operations. The Monument’s offices will be closed, but events will proceed as scheduled.
The Roosevelt Swim Center and outdoor pools will remain open with regular holiday hours, and the Rapid City Airport will stay open, though administrative offices will be closed.
