A 27-year-old woman from Eagle Butte has died following a hit-and-run incident on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, according to tribal law enforcement officials.
Cheyenne River Law Enforcement responded Sunday to reports of a serious incident involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Upon arrival, an officer found that the vehicle had fled the scene and immediately began assisting the injured woman.
The victim was transported to the Cheyenne River Health Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities say suspects connected to the incident have since been located and taken into custody. Officials have not released additional details about the individuals or circumstances surrounding the crash.
The case remains under active investigation, and no further information is being released at this time, according to Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement.
