Crews were able to hold a Nebraska wildfire that has burned nearly 39,000 acres.
The South Fork Fire, which started June 9 near Crawford, is now at 64% containment as crews continue working to secure fire lines amid challenging weather conditions.
While progress has been made, officials warn the fire is not fully controlled and could still flare up as hotter, drier conditions test containment lines.
Just over 500 personnel are assigned to the fire, and authorities urge the public to avoid the area due to ongoing hazards such as hot spots, falling debris, and active firefighting operations.
