Emergency crews responded to two serious incidents in the Rockerville area on June 19, including a two-vehicle crash and a medical emergency at a popular hiking spot.
Late in the morning, multiple agencies assisted at a crash on Highway 16 and Silver Mountain Road. Several people were transported to the hospital, and traffic slowed significantly during the response. Fire crews credited bystanders, including the Tatanka Hotshots, for helping provide early patient care.
Earlier in the afternoon, rescue teams were called to Hippie Hole after reports of a person in distress. An adult male suffering from confusion, likely due to hypothermia after time in cold water, was evaluated and able to walk out with assistance.
Officials reminded the public that summer traffic and rugged recreation areas increase risks, urging drivers to stay alert and visitors to prepare for remote conditions without cell service.
