South Dakota seniors and residents with disabilities have until July 1, 2026, to apply for the state’s Tax Refund Program, which reimburses a portion of sales taxes paid in 2025.
To qualify, applicants must have lived in South Dakota all of 2025, be 65 or older by Jan. 1, 2025 or disabled during the year, and meet income limits of $17,215 or less for individuals or $23,265 for households.
Applications can be filed online, downloaded from the Department of Revenue website, or mailed to the Tax Refund Office in Pierre. Those who qualified last year will receive an application by mail unless they chose electronic delivery.
