Residents can now easily view traffic volumes across Rapid City and surrounding areas through a new online map launched by the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization (RCMPO).
The data shows most major streets carry 10,000 to 30,000 vehicles per day, with some roadways seeing as many as 30,000 to 40,000 daily.
Developed with the city’s GIS division, the interactive map allows users to explore average annual daily traffic (AADT) counts, view trends over the past decade, and access studies dating back to 2013.
Officials say the tool provides useful insight not only for public curiosity but also for developers, realtors, businesses, and city planners. Additional data for areas in Pennington and Meade counties is expected to be added in the future.
