The South Dakota Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of Chris Kujawa on charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated assault stemming from a 2025 incident in Box Elder.
According to the court’s opinion, Kujawa forced his way into a man’s home, threatened him with a handgun, and told him to prepare to die during a dispute over personal property left in a storage unit.
On appeal, Kujawa argued the circuit court improperly limited how much he could question the victim about prior felony convictions and challenged the court’s response to a jury question. The Supreme Court rejected both arguments, finding no reversible error.
The ruling affirms the jury’s verdict and leaves Kujawa’s convictions in place.
