Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to plan for delays beginning today as crews with the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern (RCP&E) Railroad conduct emergency repairs at the railroad crossing located at the intersection of Seventh Street and Apolda Street.
City officials said they were notified of the repair project late Monday afternoon. Work is scheduled to begin this morning, with traffic control measures in place to direct vehicles around the closure area.
According to railroad officials, the repairs are expected to be completed within one day. However, the project could extend into Wednesday if additional work is required.
Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time and remain alert while traveling near the construction zone until the work is completed.
