Former Deadwood City Commissioner Blake Joseph pleaded guilty July 1 to several misdemeanor charges as part of a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of multiple other counts.
Joseph admitted guilt to charges including harassing communications, violating no-contact and protection orders, tampering with a vehicle, and speeding. Four additional no-contact order violations were dismissed under the agreement.
The charges stemmed from incidents involving harassing messages sent to a male victim and violations of court orders connected to an ongoing domestic violence case in Butte County. Joseph received suspended jail sentences totaling 30 days on the misdemeanor convictions, contingent on compliance with court-ordered conditions.
Joseph still faces separate criminal cases in Butte and Lawrence counties, including allegations of domestic violence, burglary, identity theft, theft, drug possession, and obstructing law enforcement. Court appearances in those cases are scheduled later this month.
