The historic 1880 Train derailed Saturday in the Black Hills, forcing the cancellation of the scheduled July 12 Train Robbery event. No injuries were reported.
Train officials said crews are working to rerail the locomotive and assess the track before service resumes. An update on operations and the status of upcoming events is expected before the next scheduled Train Robbery excursion on July 19.
The 1880 Train, which operates between Hill City and Keystone, is one of the Black Hills’ most popular tourist attractions and is known as the world’s oldest continuously operated standard-gauge excursion train.
