South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced that Sharon Laraye Monson, 49, of Pierre, pleaded guilty Thursday to one felony count of grand theft for defrauding the South Dakota Medicaid Program.
Monson, former owner of At Home Nursing in Pierre, was accused of stealing more than $588,000 in state and federal Medicaid funds between May 2018 and January 2024. Under a plea agreement, she will pay $500,000 in restitution to the South Dakota Department of Social Services.
She faces up to 15 years in prison when sentenced Aug. 25 in Hughes County Circuit Court.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud, Abuse and Neglect Services Unit.
