The Rapid City Legal and Finance Committee will consider a proposal Wednesday to accept a 22.65-acre land donation from Pete Lien & Sons for the city’s planned sports complex.
The property is located between Seger Drive, E. Mall Drive, N. Lacrosse Street and Tish Boulevard. Under the proposed agreement, the sports complex would be completed by the end of 2029.
Mayor Jason Salamun called the donation a significant step toward developing the publicly owned facility, which is planned to host recreational, educational and competitive athletic events.
If approved by the committee, the agreement will move to the Rapid City Council for consideration on Monday. Officials and Sports Commission representatives will also provide a project update Thursday at City Hall.
