Pennington County officials reported continued progress Tuesday in recovering from a recent cybersecurity incident, with additional departments returning to normal operations while security validation and monitoring efforts continue.
County staff, cybersecurity experts, and state and federal partners remain investigating the incident and assessing whether any personal information was affected. Officials said no action is currently required from the public and that any impacted individuals will be notified directly if necessary.
Several county services remain limited. The Treasurer’s Office can answer questions but is still unable to process vehicle registrations or accept payments. Early voting continues through the Auditor’s Office, while the Register of Deeds has resumed processing vital records requests and accepting real estate recordings, though some services remain restricted. Planning and Zoning operations have largely resumed, with some delays and cash-or-check-only payments.
County Commission meetings will continue as scheduled, though livestreaming may be unavailable until systems are fully restored. Officials said restoring services safely remains their top priority and apologized for ongoing disruptions.
