RAPID CITY, S.D. — Firefighters responded around 11:45 a.m. Sunday to a moderately spreading grass fire known as the Spring Fire, located near Highway 79 and Spring Creek Road.
According to fire officials, the blaze is estimated at 22.8 acres. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, and authorities report that forward progress has been stopped, preventing further spread.
Officials said there were no evacuations, no road closures, and no damage to structures as a result of the fire. Firefighters remain on scene monitoring conditions and securing containment lines.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
