LAWRENCE COUNTY, S.D. — A 56-year-old Spearfish man died Sunday from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Saturday evening on Interstate 90, about one mile east of Spearfish.
According to preliminary information, the rider was traveling westbound on I-90 near mile marker 19 at approximately 5:45 p.m. on July 25 when he began to lose control of his 1995 Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle was laid down, and the rider became separated from the vehicle.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a Spearfish hospital before being transferred to a Rapid City hospital. He died from his injuries on July 26.
Authorities have not released the man’s name pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation, and all information released is preliminary.
