RAPID CITY, S.D. — A South Dakota grant program is helping expand efforts to combat food insecurity in tribal communities through the Mobile Hunger Hero food truck operated by Team Buche Cares – Underdog Foundation.
The mobile food distribution program delivers meals and healthy food to families in need across rural and tribal areas of the state. The initiative was inspired by the organization’s CEO after witnessing the need while helping feed children on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
The nonprofit recently received funding from the South Dakota Community Foundation to continue and grow its food distribution efforts. Foundation leaders say the grant will help increase access to nutritious food for underserved communities while supporting the organization’s mission of creating meaningful change.
Team Buche Cares plans to expand future distributions as it works to reach more families facing food insecurity throughout South Dakota.
