PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — A 67-year-old Sioux Falls woman died Saturday following a single-vehicle crash west of Rochford in the Black Hills, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:03 a.m. Aug. 1 at the intersection of South Rochford Road and Seven Hills Road, about five miles west of Rochford.
Preliminary information indicates a 2025 Can-Am Spyder RT was traveling on South Rochford Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The three-wheeled motorcycle left the roadway and rolled.
The passenger, a 67-year-old Sioux Falls woman, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver, a 72-year-old Sioux Falls man, also wearing a helmet, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a Rapid City hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released at this time is preliminary.
