STURGIS, S.D. — Sturgis Police handled 197 calls for service Saturday, bringing the two-day rally total to 393 calls, a decrease compared to the same period last year.
According to Police Chief Geody Vandewater’s daily rally report, officers responded to eight fight or assault calls and 17 illegal parking complaints during Saturday’s reporting period.
Police also investigated four injury crashes and four non-injury crashes. Officers made four DUI arrests, responded to five underage alcohol consumption incidents, and reported six open container violations involving vehicles.
A total of 20 people were booked into jail on Saturday, raising the rally’s year-to-date total to 39 inmates.
Arrest numbers also remain below last year’s pace. So far during the rally, Sturgis Police have reported 32 non-traffic arrests and 28 traffic-related arrests.
Officials say overall call volume and arrest totals are trending lower than they were at the same point during last year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
