As students head back to the classroom, families across the country are wrapping up their back-to-school shopping, with average spending for K-12 students expected to reach $864 per household.
Major purchases this year include electronics, clothing, shoes, and traditional school supplies. While many families completed most of their shopping earlier in the summer, retailers are still seeing demand from parents picking up last-minute items as the school year gets underway.
Industry forecasts indicate more shoppers may be visiting stores in person this season, as online purchases are expected to decline compared to previous years.
Retailers also expect back-to-school spending to continue beyond the first day of class, with families making additional trips for supplies, clothing, and other necessities as students settle into their school routines.
