BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – New court documents are shedding light on a fatal shooting in Newcastle, Wyoming, that has led to murder charges against a Belle Fourche man.
Drake Ingalls, 24, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jason Greene of Newcastle. The incident reportedly began after Ingalls drove a woman to Greene’s home following a text message exchange between the two.
According to court documents, Ingalls told investigators he heard the woman yelling for help from inside the residence. He said he armed himself with a handgun and entered the home, where he saw Greene holding the woman and demanded he let her go. Ingalls told authorities he shot Greene when he did not comply.
However, the woman gave a different account, telling investigators that Greene never assaulted her and that no physical altercation was taking place. According to court records, she said Ingalls “did not need to shoot that gun at all.”
Greene died from the shooting. Ingalls is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
