RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City officials will celebrate the completion of major playground upgrades at Robbinsdale Park with a public dedication ceremony this morning.
Mayor Jason Salamun, Parks Director Jeff Biegler, city staff, and members of the Disability Awareness and Accessibility Committee will take part in the 10:30 a.m. ceremony at the park’s lower playground.
The playgrounds closed in January to replace aging equipment that had been in use for about 30 years. New features include a ZipKrooz zip line with an ADA-accessible bay, as well as accessible swings, platforms, and sensory-focused play equipment designed for children of all ages and abilities.
The project also included new sidewalks, drainage improvements, and safety surfacing upgrades. City officials say the renovations are part of an ongoing effort to modernize playgrounds throughout Rapid City’s park system.
Funding came from the City’s Community Enrichment Division, Community Development Block Grants, and support from several city departments involved in the construction work.
