Oglala, S.D. – Students at Loneman School returned to class today after severe hail damage delayed the start of the school year.
School officials say a storm earlier this month caused significant damage to school vehicles, prompting administrators to postpone classes that were originally scheduled to begin last Tuesday. Officials say they decided to ensure the safety of students and staff.
While classes are now underway, the school continues to work through transportation challenges. Parents are being advised that bus schedules could change as needs and staffing levels are adjusted.
School leaders are also asking families to have students at their designated bus stops five to ten minutes before scheduled pickup times.
