DEADWOOD, S.D. – A road construction project is getting underway on U.S. Highway 14A southwest of Deadwood.
Beginning Tuesday, crews will repair a roadway inslope near Deadwood Creek and replace a pipe at the Broken Boot Gold Mine.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project, but a 10-foot width restriction will be in place in both directions. Oversized vehicles will be detoured to U.S. Highway 85 using a signed route.
Officials say a temporary weekend closure will be needed later in the project for pipe installation, with details to be announced at a future date.
The project is being completed by Rapid City’s Mainline Contracting Incorporated at a cost of approximately $550,000.
Construction is expected to continue through Oct. 30.
