RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Area Schools will release students early on Thursday because of hot conditions affecting several school buildings across the district.
District officials say the early dismissal will impact Grandview, Horace Mann, Meadowbrook, Rapid Valley, Robbinsdale, Pinedale, South Canyon, South Park, Wilson, and North Middle School.
In addition to the early release, all after-school activities at those campuses have been canceled for the day.
School officials say the decision was made to protect students and staff as higher temperatures create uncomfortable conditions inside affected facilities. Families are encouraged to check with their school for specific dismissal times and transportation updates.
