RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City comedy venue says community support has helped secure its future after recent financial struggles.
West River Comedy Club announced it has raised enough money to remain open after launching a crowdfunding campaign earlier this summer. Owner Trevor Ryan said the fundraiser was created to address mounting debt and financial management issues that had threatened the club’s future.
The campaign brought in more than $16,000 from supporters in Rapid City and across the country. Ryan also credited strong attendance at recent shows and advance ticket sales for helping stabilize operations.
While the club did not reach its full fundraising goal, Ryan says it raised enough to stay open and continue hosting comedians in Rapid City. He added that ongoing support from patrons will remain important moving forward.
West River Comedy Club has become a regular stop for regional and national comedians and serves audiences across western South Dakota.
