RAPID CITY, S.D. – Students at North Middle School in Rapid City will have greater access to music education thanks to a donation of more than $21,000 in musical instruments.
The instruments were provided by the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports school music programs across the country.
North Middle School band teacher Shane Bradford says the donation will help remove financial barriers for students and give more young musicians access to quality instruments.
School officials say the new equipment will allow more students to participate in band and other music programs while helping them develop new skills and confidence through music.
The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation has spent the last 30 years supporting underfunded music programs nationwide, donating more than 43,000 instruments valued at nearly $40 million to schools across the country.
The donation is expected to expand music opportunities for students at North Middle School for years to come.
