RAPID CITY, S.D. – Monday is the final day to donate diapers, wipes, and monetary contributions as part of Diaper Need Awareness Week in Rapid City.
Volunteers of America Northern Rockies is aiming to collect 20,000 diapers, 10,000 diaper wipes and $3,000 in donations, nearly doubling last year’s totals. Donations will benefit Mommy’s Closet, one of only two diaper banks in South Dakota.
Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun has proclaimed September 14th through 20th as Diaper Need Awareness Week, with collection sites set up at City Hall, the Rapid City Public Library, Fire Station One, the Public Safety Building, and Mommy’s Closet.
Organizers say all diaper sizes are needed, with a particular demand for size five diapers. Cash and check donations are also being accepted.
More information is available through Volunteers of America Northern Rockies.
