RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City residents helped exceed expectations during this year’s Diaper Need Awareness Week donation drive.
Organizers announced that more than 35,000 diapers, 10,000 diaper wipes, and 3,300 dollars in cash donations were collected, surpassing every goal set for the annual campaign.
The community drive, hosted by Volunteers of America, had targeted 20,000 diapers, 10,000 wipes, and 3,000 dollars in donations.
Collection sites included Rapid City City Hall, Fire Station One, the Public Safety Building, the Rapid City Public Library, and Mommy’s Closet.
All donations will benefit Mommy’s Closet, one of only two diaper banks in South Dakota, helping provide essential supplies to families in need throughout the region.
City officials thanked residents for their generosity, saying the strong response will help ensure infants and toddlers have access to clean diapers and necessary care.
