RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Sustainability Committee is inviting area residents to learn the basics of food preservation at an upcoming applesauce canning class.
The class will be held Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Walter Taylor 4-H Building on the Central States Fairgrounds.
Hosted in partnership with Rapid City Rotary, the hands-on workshop will teach participants how to safely make and preserve applesauce while providing recipes and food preservation resources.
The cost is $10, and space is limited to adults 18 and older. Organizers say participants from households that qualify for free or reduced-price lunch programs or receive SNAP or EBT benefits may request a refund after completing the class.
This is the second event in the committee’s fall canning and food preservation series following a tomato sauce workshop held earlier this month.
