RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City has once again been recognized for providing the best drinking water in South Dakota.
The honor was awarded at the recent South Dakota Water and Wastewater Association conference in Aberdeen, where judges evaluated water quality based on factors including taste and appearance.
As the state winner, Rapid City will now represent South Dakota in the American Water Works Association’s “Best of the Best” national competition next June in San Diego.
City Water Superintendent Eric Boyda says the award reflects the hard work of staff and recent investments in water treatment improvement projects.
To qualify for the competition, water systems must have no state or federal drinking water violations during the previous year.
Rapid City has also earned the South Dakota Secretary’s Award for Drinking Water Excellence every year for the past 23 years.
