RAPID CITY, S.D. – A major construction project on South Street in Rapid City is set to begin Monday, but city officials say voters will still have access to a nearby polling location on Election Day.
Crews with Halme Incorporated will install a new water main, storm sewer, and reconstruct the roadway on South Street between 12th Street and West Boulevard. The project is scheduled to continue through November 20th.
Because the construction period includes Election Day on November 3rd, city officials say they have been working with the contractor to ensure the polling place remains accessible. ADA-compliant access and parking will be available on Fulton Street for voters.
Motorists should expect the South Street closure and plan alternate routes while the project is underway.
City officials say the work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
