RAPID CITY, S.D. – A weekend fundraiser for Special Olympics South Dakota ended with a lighthearted surprise in Rapid City.
Officers from the Rapid City Police Department and deputies from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office spent part of the weekend on the roof of Jerry’s Cakes and Donuts collecting donations for Special Olympics South Dakota.
As the fundraiser wrapped up, members of the Rapid City Fire Department arrived with a ladder truck and staged a playful rescue, bringing the law enforcement officers safely back to the ground.
The event highlighted the strong partnership between local first responders while helping raise money and awareness for Special Olympics athletes across South Dakota.
Organizers say the fundraiser once again showed how a little friendly rivalry can help support a great cause.
