RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City residents are being asked to donate candy and costumes to help ensure local children can enjoy Halloween celebrations this year.
For the fourth consecutive year, Journey On and the Rapid City Police Department’s Community Engagement Team are collecting donations to support youth in need and safe trick-or-treat events throughout the community.
Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, the Journey On offices on Quincy Street, and the Rapid City Police Department substation at Uptown Mall.
Journey On will also host Halloween Costume Boo-tiques in the Knollwood, Star Village, and Sagebrush Flats neighborhoods, giving children an opportunity to choose or create costumes for school and community Halloween activities.
Organizers say more than 26,000 pieces of candy and hundreds of costumes have been donated during the past three years. Donations will be accepted through October 21st.
