RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines will host a public discussion Friday focused on the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on education, engineering, research, and the workforce.
The event, titled The Future of Artificial Intelligence, will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Surbeck Center Beck Ballroom. Featured speakers include U.S. Senator Mike Rounds and Anthropic representatives Anthony Cimino and Dylan Shields.
Organizers say the conversation will explore the opportunities and challenges of rapidly advancing AI technology, including workforce development, innovation, public policy, and national security. Discussions will also examine how artificial intelligence could shape future careers, classroom learning, engineering fields, and research efforts.
University officials say the event is designed to help students, educators, and community members better understand the growing role AI is expected to play in society and the economy.
