RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Arts Council is inviting current and retired K-12 art educators from across the Black Hills to showcase their work in a new exhibition celebrating teachers as artists.
The exhibit aims to highlight the creative talents of educators who inspire students through art while continuing to pursue their own artistic practices. Submissions are open to teachers from public, private, and tribal schools and may include painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, fiber arts, mixed media, and digital illustration.
Artists may submit up to five original works created within the past five years. The submission deadline is November 16, with selected artists to be announced November 23.
The exhibition will open January 22, 2027, and run through April 8 at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City. Organizers say the event is designed to recognize art educators not only for their work in the classroom, but also for their contributions as practicing artists.
