RAPID CITY, S.D. – Residents will have a chance to make a direct impact on local charities during the Rushmore Rotary Giving Circle event next week in Rapid City.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, at the Central States Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building. Participants contribute 100 dollars and then vote on which of three nonprofit organizations should receive the majority of the funds raised. This year’s beneficiaries are Reservation Outreach, South Dakota Service Dogs, and Da Coda Instruments.
The organization receiving the most votes will receive 80 percent of the donations, while the remaining two groups will each receive 10 percent. Organizers say the event is designed to demonstrate the power of community members pooling resources to support local causes.
In addition to the charitable giving, the evening will feature live music, food trucks, and a cash bar. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with presentations and voting taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. Organizers say everyone is welcome to attend and help support organizations making a difference in the Black Hills community.
