RAPID CITY, S.D. – Pennington County Auditor Sabrina Green has announced she will step down from her position on November 6, citing a desire to put her family first.
Green has worked in the Auditor’s Office since 2018 and was appointed county auditor earlier this year following the retirement of former Auditor Cindy Mohler. Her current term was scheduled to run through March 2027.
Green said the decision was difficult but comes as she prepares for a new opportunity in Rapid City. She also noted that after losing the June primary election for the auditor’s position, she knew her time in the office would eventually be coming to an end.
County officials say they are working with Green to ensure a smooth transition and to make sure preparations for the November General Election continue without interruption. The county commission will appoint an interim auditor to serve until a newly elected auditor takes office in March.
The Auditor’s Office oversees county finances, payroll, budgeting, tax administration, voter registration, and election operations, making it one of the county’s key administrative departments.
