RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Mexican national has been sentenced and will be deported after admitting to illegally reentering the United States following multiple previous deportations.
38-year-old Marco Jimenez-Sanchez was sentenced September 18th in federal court to time served. Following the completion of his sentence, he will be deported to Mexico.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jimenez-Sanchez was found in Box Elder on May 21st after authorities responded to reports of a person crossing a fence into a restricted construction area near Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Ellsworth Air Force Security Forces and Box Elder Police located Jimenez-Sanchez and determined he had previously been deported from the United States multiple times.
He was indicted in June and later pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the country.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, along with the Box Elder Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Schroeder.
