RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City residents will have an opportunity to share their views on proposed data center regulations during a public open house this week.
The city’s Community Development Department will host the event Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Staff will present a proposed ordinance and gather public feedback.
The proposal would build on regulations adopted in 2024 by adding standards for setbacks from residential neighborhoods, as well as requirements related to power, water and sewer usage, noise, and vibration.
The Rapid City Planning Commission delayed further discussion of the proposal until its Nov. 5 meeting to allow time for revisions and public input.
City officials are encouraging residents to attend the open house and provide feedback before the proposal returns to the Planning Commission.
