BAGGS, WY. – A convicted sex offender who had been wanted in Colorado for nearly two years has been arrested in Wyoming.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Timothy Dan Thurston was taken into custody Oct. 7 near Baggs, Wyoming. Thurston was listed as No. 21 on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.
Authorities say Thurston was wanted on charges of failure to appear and failure to register as a sex offender. He had previously been convicted of sexual assault on a child.
Investigators tracked Thurston to Wyoming after a Colorado fugitive task force requested assistance from Wyoming law enforcement. Information developed during the investigation indicated he was living in the Baggs area.
Members of the Wyoming Fugitive Task Force, along with the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, located and arrested Thurston without incident.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Thurston’s criminal history also includes drug offenses, probation violations, and previous sex offender registration violations.
