RAPID CITY, S.D. – A public demonstration and food drive aimed at encouraging civic engagement and voter participation is planned for Rapid City this weekend.
The event, called “No Kings 4: Vote Early and Food Drive,” will take place Saturday, October 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. outside Rapid City City Hall. Organizers with Indivisible Rapid City say the gathering is part of a nationwide series of “No Kings: Vote Early” events being held ahead of the November 3 general election.
Along with promoting voter registration and early voting, the event will include a food drive benefiting Friday Feeds, a program operated by Pejuta Waste O’Tipi, the Good Medicine Lodge. Participants are encouraged to donate shelf-stable, non-perishable food items.
Organizers say the event is intended to highlight civic engagement, democratic participation, and support for neighbors facing food insecurity. Rapid City is the only community in western South Dakota scheduled to host a “No Kings: Vote Early” event as part of the nationwide effort.
