EDGEMONT, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the man who died in a rollover crash near Edgemont last week.
Authorities say 59-year-old James Michael Edwards of Nebraska was killed Wednesday while driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia on U.S. Highway 18 near mile marker 2.
According to the Highway Patrol, Edwards was traveling westbound when the truck left the roadway. Investigators say he attempted to steer back onto the highway, but the semi overturned in the ditch and rolled.
Edwards was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation.
