RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Children’s Home Society has officially opened a new $30 million campus in Rapid City, bringing its Black Hills programs and services together under one roof.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at the organization’s new 110,000-square-foot facility on Mount Rushmore Road, located in the former National American University building.
The campus already houses outpatient therapy, child advocacy, and case management services. Beginning November 4th, 32 youth currently served at the Rockerville campus will move to the new location along with residential treatment and therapeutic school programs.
Children’s Home Society leaders say consolidating services in one location will improve coordination of care and make it easier for families to access support. Chief Operating Officer Allison Sanderson says children transitioning from residential treatment to foster care or home settings will be able to continue receiving therapy and other services without changing providers.
The statewide organization serves every county in South Dakota and assisted more than 16,000 children and families last year. Officials say the new campus will offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential treatment, adoption services, child advocacy, and educational programs, with plans for future expansion.
Leaders say their goal is to ensure children and families throughout the region can access the care and support they need close to home.
