RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City woman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for her role in a large methamphetamine distribution conspiracy operating across South Dakota.
Thirty-six-year-old Jaimie High Horse was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in July to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. She will also serve five years of supervised release following her prison term.
Federal prosecutors say High Horse was one of 13 defendants involved in a meth trafficking operation that distributed drugs in Rapid City and other communities throughout the state. Authorities say she was personally responsible for distributing 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Prosecutors also say High Horse was arrested in April following a high-speed pursuit involving an officer with the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
The investigation involved numerous local, tribal, state, and federal agencies, including the Rapid City Police Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
Following sentencing, High Horse was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
