RAPID CITY, S.D. — Drivers in eastern Rapid City should expect heavier-than-normal traffic this weekend as the annual Fright Fest Soccer Tournament brings thousands of visitors to the area.
Beginning Friday, temporary traffic signals have been installed at the intersection of Elk Vale Drive and East Mall Drive to help manage congestion near the Dakota Fields Complex. The signals will remain in place through Monday.
The tournament, hosted by the Black Hills Rapids, is expected to draw a record 235 teams from six states, including South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, and Colorado. Thousands of players, coaches, family members, and fans are anticipated to attend the three-day event.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for higher traffic volumes near the tournament venue throughout the weekend.
